Peninsula Pines on Long Pond
212 Peninsula Drive, Rome, Maine

Our rental camp is located on the northern end of Long Pond off Route 27 in Rome. It is a newer location that has a long rental season from late May through September. Full weeks in late May, June, and September are discounted from the summer price. It is called "Peninsula Pines", because the camp is near the end of a peninsula, (about one mile in from Route 27) and it has some nice pines on the property.

Included at this location is lakefront vacationing with a 20 foot dock, all on a 300 foot plus shoreline. The water is a bit rocky with a huge rock off to one side of the dock that the kids can swim to and then stand on. We are told that the fishing is fantastic here. This is a more private place that sits at the narrowest part of the peninsula, offering terrific views of Long Pond from both sides. Loons can quite often serenade you in stereo at night.

The inside of the camp has a full kitchen, that includes a refrigerator, electric stove, microwave oven, knotty pine cabinets, and, of course, a lobster pot. The floor, running from the kitchen and eating place through the living room, is all oak. There is a propane wall heating unit in the living room and also Spectrum Cable TV, DVD/VCR player, and internet, but no landline. A casa blanca fan at the top of the room's cathedral ceiling helps circulate the air throughout the camp. Washer and dryer are included (please use liquid detergent) but there is no dish washer, only plenty of Dawn liquid.

The camp sleeps seven and has one bedroom downstairs with a queen bed and two bedrooms upstairs (one with two twin beds and the other larger room with one full and one twin bed). On the second floor is a lounge area that has another TV and our hallmark "rainy day library" that has the policy of taking the book home if your stay ends but your reading hasn't. The lounge also has a terrific view of the lake.

Please remember to be sure to bring linens (sheets, pillow cases, and towel sets) and we supply the blankets, quilts, mattress pads, and pillows.

There is a full bathroom downstairs with shower/tub and a half bathroom upstairs. You are using well water in the plumbing, but we recommend that you bring bottled water for your drinking and cooking needs. We installed a water filtration system in October of 2019 that has greatly improved the taste and quality of the water system. All walls and ceilings are 100% knotty pine except the kitchen.

Please, no pets or jet skis.

Outside, there is an open porch with a picnic table. Guests have often sat at the table while catching up on a little internet homework. Below the porch is a newly graveled grill space with chairs. And if you continue along the path along the side of the camp and down to the shoreline, you will find our dockside seating and our boat dock.
